I upgraded to Windows 7 last week; I was quite impressed with Easy Transfer, included since (I guess) Windows Vista, and how it handled moving files and settings from XP. I called up DirecTV and ordered their high-def receiver/DVR on Sunday. Today, realizing that hooking up the DVR to our current A/V receiver would be problematic, I ordered a new receiver, HDMI cables (thank you, MonoPrice, for reasonable prices), and a PS2 component cable. I picked up an Xbox 360 a couple of weeks ago, along with a couple games. One of the games was fine on our TV, the other had barely-legible text that cried out for an HDTV. I'm struggling to come up with a post, after about a week of jetting around being elsewhere. jeramey and brennx0r were awesome in person, and I also got to meet dariusk 1 who was a lot of fun to be around. ...it's been absolutely nuts. I flew out to San Francisco Sunday evening (awesome timing, I know), had an interview Monday afternoon, and got to meet tongodeon in person for sushi (mmmmmmmmmmmmsushi) Monday evening. Did really well. I guess I enjoy writing games? Hard to tell. I enjoy pushing myself like this.

I'm on vacation this week, enforced by my employer... and it's not half bad. Rather than sit about, I've had my head buried in 3-D trig, object-oriented design, and OpenGL. It's exhilerating going back to my math library and having a reason for it, even if the only book I've used from it is the oldest and least interesting (so far).

I installed WinXP on my PC over the weekend; it's noticeably better than Windows 2000. In addition, my copy of Windows 2000 was a student copy, which I've relied on ever since I got my first PC for college; it was time to give up that little bit of the past and buy my copy.
